Stop pellet bullets against children of India, Or face trial for human rights violation

A meeting of the State Legal Aid Committee headed by Prof.Bhim Singh, a Barrister & Sr.Advocate of Supreme Court of India chairing State Legal Aid Committee was held this morning at Jantar Mantar, New Delhi to work out an appropriate and affective measures to save the children of India who have been facing pellets (lead bullets) in Kashmir for the pleasure of the rulers of J&K. It is one of the greatest tragedies of the time that BJP became a ruling partner with PDP who have been ruling the state for the past over two years.

Prof.Bhim Singh, Chief Patron of NPP convened an emergency meeting of the State Legal Aid Committee in New Delhi took a hard decision to move the National Human Rights Commission in New Delhi, the capital of India against the brutal, barbaric and inhuman use of pellet guns against the children of India in J&K. Prof.Bhim Singh addressing over 50 lawyers-members of the State Legal Aid Committee hailing from different parts of the country decided that a human right protection campaign shall be undertaken by the State Legal Aid Committee to mobilize the national opinion of the human activists and politicians as well as the intellectuals against the barbaric use of pellet guns against the children in Kashmir Valley which is rightly called as crown of India and where Mahatma Gandhi felt the ray of hope and saw the lights of the day in the forties during the freedom struggle of India against the British kingdom.

Prof.Bhim Singh declared that the use of pellet guns shall be declared as inhuman, criminal, unrecognized in the chapter of human rights and unacceptable in the Indian democracy which is supposed to extend to the State of J&K. Prof.Bhim Singh declared that the State Legal Aid Committee shall knock the doors of National Human Rights Commission to ensure that such use of pellet guns is listed as anti-human and crime against the humanity in a free country, India.

Prof.Bhim Singh said that more than 50 youth including males and females and children have been hit by the pellet bullets for the pleasure of the rulers of J&K which include BJP and PDP. Prof.Bhim Singh said that during 100 years Dogra rule the bullets were not allowed to be used against the people. It was only in 1931 that some people were killed (martyred). The then Maharaja of J&K, Hari Singh invited a British Commissioner to hold inquiry and all the guilty policemen were punished. This was one instance in 1931 during 100 years of Dogra rule. He wondered how many innocent persons have been killed by the so-called democratic government in J&K who claim to be Indian where the rule of law of the Constitution of India does not reach. J&K is the only state in India which has not been officially merged by the Constituent Assembly and the only state which has its separate Constitution without any fundamental rights incorporated inside the Constitution. The only hope of the people of J&K lies in Supreme Court of India which has managed of its own to extend its jurisdiction to the State of J&K in spite of the fact that J&K is not under the command of Constitution of India because of the temporary provision of Article 370.

Prof.Bhim Singh declared that October 26 shall be celebrated as Accession Day throughout J&K, the day Maharaja Hari Singh signed the Instrument of Accession in 1947. He regretted that the Parliament of India has not cared to implement that accession for merger of the state till this day. Prof.Bhim Singh said that Article 370 needs to be amended so that people of J&K shall be guaranteed all the fundamental rights incorporated in the Constitution of India.

NPP’s floral tributes to first Prime Minister Nehru, Architect of democracy & messenger of peace

ich tributes were paid to Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru, the first Prime Minister of India on his 126th birth anniversary by hundreds of NPP volunteers at Jantar Mantar, the Hyde Park of India.

Prof.Bhim Singh while paying tributes reminded that he had first occasion to shake hand with Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru in 1963 at Xth Youth Festival in Talkatora Gardens when he was representing Aligarh Muslim University in the Youth Festival. He said that J&K University was not inviting to the Youth Festival. His protest to Nehru was well taken and it was Mrs. Indira Gandhi, daughter of Jawaharlal Nehru who was asked by Nehru ji to console Bhim Singh.

Bhim Singh remembered that in 1964 he came with more than 30 youth representatives from J&K to protest in front of Parliament demanding tri-colour flag for J&K and implementation of the Constitution of India. It was the first day of the Parliament session. Prof.Bhim Singh and his colleagues were sitting on hunger strike in front of the Parliament. Nehru ji died of heart attack and the hunger strike was postponed.

Prof.Bhim Singh regretted that the present BJP government headed by Shri Narendra Modi has been playing hostile to the former Prime Ministers. The Prime Minister sponsored a personal advertisement putting his photographs with first Home Minister of India Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on his birthday. He ignored Shastri ji, the second Prime Minister and Hero of 1965 war completely. Today the Modi government ignored to pay tributes or failed even to remember Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru on his 126th birth anniversary. This was most unfortunate that Modi government has been acting hostile and breaching India’s cultural heritage.

Prof.Bhim Singh reminded the nation that Prime Minister Modi during his ‘great speech’ in a Sports Stadium in London yesterday completely ignored to mention the contribution made by Nehru and other Prime Minister towards world peace and harmony. Prime Minister Modi had enough time to mention ‘James Bond’ & ‘Brooke Bond Tea’ but he had no time to mention the great heroes that had produced and the contributed towards world peace, disarmament and harmony.

Prof.Bhim Singh said that Nehru’s contributions to introduce India in the international fraternity, as peace loving country with its commitment to composite culture cannot be ignored. NPP volunteers paid homage to Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru at the party headquarters in Jammu, Srinagar and other places including Kanyakumari in Tamilnadu.

Prof.Bhim Singh reminded the Prime Minister and his party leaders to keep in mind that it was Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru rejected the ‘Dixon Plan’ for J&K and even got his close friend Sheikh Abdullah dismissed as Prime Minister of J&K and arrested for secessionist plot against India on August 9, 1953 through his direction to Dr. Karan Singh, the then Sadar-e-Riyasat of J&K. He reminded the BJP leadership and the rulers that this was Jawaharlal Nehru who established an alternate movement, the Non Alignment Movement in 1954 by his personal initiatives in cooperation with President Tito of Yugoslavia, President Abdul Gamal Nasser of Egypt and with active cooperation of China. This was the greatest movement on the world platform that Nehru established against arms race and for world peace and mutual co-existence. This was the time when India in its virginity could lead the world towards peace and complete disarmament. It was Nehru who plot India on the global platform so far as industrialization was concerned. It was he who gathered the support and active cooperation of the Arab world and other Afro-Asian countries. It was he who helped the smaller nations in the Afro-Asian World to stand on their feet and walk towards democracy. It was he who always called himself as the servant of India and not the Prime Minister. He might have committed some mistakes and blunders but whatever he did was to strengthen India’s secular image with its composite culture. He regretted that the Modi government in the Centre has failed to pay a homage to Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru that he deserved today.

Press Release from Damana

Addressing a massive election rally at Damana (Jammu) late last evening on 125th birthday of Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru,

Prof.Bhim Singh, founder of National Panthers Party reminded the critics of Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru about the unique and superb contribution of the first Prime Minster of India in defeating the notorious Dixon Plan to create a fanatic state inside Jammu and Kashmir. The NPP leader said that the so-called intellectuals and RSS lobbyists have been accusing Nehru, responsible for the creation of J&K problem.

The NPP leader said that it was Jawaharlal Nehru who took the most difficult initiative and unexpected step reject the Dixon Plan to create the so-called ‘Greater Kashmir’ by segregating from the Union of India as suggested by the UN observer Owen Dixon in 1951. Sheikh Abdullah was sent as a Member of the Indian delegation in 1951 to the United Nations where he was prompted by the CIA to declare J&K as a separate state. Nehru could guess the American plan and said no. Sheikh Abdullah on his return made highly provocative announcement in R.S. Pura (International Border) declaring that if Dixon Plan is not implemented he would go for independent J&K. Prof.Bhim Singh reminded Nehru’s critics that it was Nehru who got his great friend Abdullah dismissed from the job of Prime Ministership in Kashmir and issued a whip to Dr. Karan Singh, the then Sadar-e-Riyasat of J&K to put Sheikh Abdullah in jail. He said that Nehru’s critics have been trying to put a lid on the basket of history and ignoring what Nehru has done to keep J&K intact. He said that this contribution of Nehru has not been brought to the public focus by the intellectuals or by the media for different reasons. He said that this action of Jawaharlal Nehru needs to be recorded in the books of history particularly in relation to J&K.

Prof.Bhim Singh also accused the Congress leaders to dare not come out with truth and falling prey to the nasty propaganda by the communal and reactionary elements for over half a century.

Prof.Bhim Singh also appealed the people to defeat BJP in the same way they washed out the Congress in the Lok Sabha elections.

Bhim Singh launches Jammu State Students Movement on Martyrs’ 48th Anniversary

Heavy tributes were paid this morning to the Jammu Student Martyrs who were killed by police bullets doing the Congress government in J&K while the movement was led by Prof.Bhim Singh for opening university in Jammu with other institutions. This happened on 17th October, 1966, 48 years ago, when three students were brutally shot dead by the police right inside the premises of Gandhi Memorial Science College, Jammu.

Bhim Singh, the chief organizer of the movement escaped the police bullets. On 18th October, 1966 thousands of students marching through the Jammu streets led by Students Congress under the leadership of Prof.Bhim Singh in protest demanding to bring all murderers to justice were showered with bullets resulting into martyrdom of S. Gurcharan Singh. Hundreds of students and youth were injured. Some of them lost their arms or legs. There were orders to catch or kill student leader, Bhim Singh by the government.

Prof. Bhim Singh reminded hundreds of students at the Memorial Site in front of Science College, Jammu, how the students were killed, injured only when they were demanding university for Jammu. He also narrated the history how he along with some student leaders namely, Mr. Kamal Gandotra, Mr. Shishu Singh, Mr. Raj Kumar Saigal, Mr. D.D. Abrol, Mr. D.D. Singh and others escaped from the curfew bound Jammu city and reach Delhi to meet the then Prime Minister, Mrs. Indira Gandhi. Prof. Bhim Singh admired the courage of Mrs. Indira Gandhi who got inquiry commission constituted under Mr. Mukherjee which found several officials and police officers guilty and recommended punishment.

Prof. Bhim Singh said that he was expelled from J&K by the Congress government. While paying tributes to the student martyrs he praised their sacrifices, which has brought not one university but many in Jammu Pradesh with several professional colleges.

Prof. Bhim Singh said that 50 years back we asked for university and we got and now we are asking for Jammu State. He appealed all student organizations in Jammu Pradesh from the school to the university level to organize a Jammu State Students Movement (JSSM) so that people of Jammu Pradesh shall get freedom from the most corrupt, authoritarian and criminal rulers. He nominated Mr. Virender Thakur, State President-NPSU and his team to lead the movement JSSM by taking into confidence all student organizations in the state.

Others who also paid tributes to the student martyrs included Mr. P.K Ganju (Vice-President), Ms. Anita Thakur, Mr. H.C. Mohinder Pal Pandu, Student Leader, Roopesh Singh, Davinder Kumar, Rahul Sharma, Bhupinder Singh, Amit Charak, Shubam Jasrotia, Sanjeev, Deepak Sharma,

Rejoinder to Modi Govt. on Presidential address, was Mahatma Gandhi Pravasi Bhartiya

“Describing Mahatma Gandhi, the Father of Nation as ‘Pravasi Bhartiya’ and depicting his image as Pravasi Bhartiya in the Presidential Address on 9th June, 2014 was in a bad taste. It did not go with the dignity of the Father of Nation”, stated Prof.Bhim Singh, Supremo of the National Panthers Party and Member of National Integration Council.

NPP leader said that there was no concept of ‘NRI’ in 1915 when Shri Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, a Barrister returned to his motherland. India was under British Rule and every Indian had to carry a British passport. The concept of NRI was introduced after 1947. The NRI was differentiated from the residents of India for the purpose of Income Tax which has been elaborated in Section 6 of the Income Tax Act. He said Mahatma Gandhi was never a Pravasi Bhartiya nor he took over any job in foreign country. He was a Barrister-at-Law and could practice in any of the British governed country. Prof.Bhim Singh expressed surprise how an elite and visionary President of India signed this address which suffers from many anomalies and short falls.

Prof.Bhim Singh felt that Modi government has been exposed by its silence on the fate of Article 370 of the Constitution of India which has lasted for 65 years though it was only a temporary provision.

Prof.Bhim Singh said that the BJP had made commitment on the eve of Lok Sabha elections to the Ladakhies that BJP shall grant ‘Union Territory’ status to Ladakh. Why the Presidential address is silent on the issue? Can the Parliament grant any such status to Ladakh when the Parliament of India has no power or competence to legislate on any matter vis-à-vis J&K?
