NPP express shock on the demise of Shri Janak Raj Gupta

Prof. Bhim Singh, Chief Patron of National Panthers Party has expressed deep shock on the sad, unfortunate, untimely and unexpected demise of the former Congress MP & a senior leader of the Congress from J&K who passed away yesterday morning at Jammu.

Bhim Singh in a condolence message from Delhi described Shri Janak Raj as a trusted friend, philosopher and a politician of courage, wisdom and farsightedness who was loved by his friends and the critics alike. Recollecting his (Brim Singh) association with Shri Janak Raj ji to way back in 1957 when Bhim Singh joined GGM Science College, Jammu, he said that it was Shri Janak Raj Gupta as student of final year in the college who provided him (Bhim Singh) protection from a group of pro-NC Govt. elements who attacked him in the college. Late Shri Janak Raj Gupta as a student leader always provided him transport buses from R.S.Pura to college, of course free of charges, in support of students agitation by His support and backing continued till his college days. In 1977, both of us were elected as Congress MLAs from R.S Pura and Chenani respectively. Shri Janak Raj became Dy. Speaker of the Assembly when Sheikh Abdullah was the Chief Minister. Bhim Singh continued enjoying same old love and sympathy of Shri Janak Raj Ji.

He recalled that Shri Janak Raj Gupta visited him (Bhim Singh) in AIIMS, New Delhi on 8th September, 2015 to enquire about his health where Bhim Singh was admitted in the AIIMS. “He promised me that we shall meet immediately after I was out of the AIIMS to work out a joint plan of the new role under the changing situation in J&K”, Bhim Singh said that he has lost a great friend, well-wisher and people of Jammu have lost a great leader and champion of their cause and felt that the vacuum created by his sudden departure shall never be filled.

JKNPP in its condolence message expressed sympathy with the bereaved family and prayed for the peace to the   departed soul in the heaven. The JKNPP in special Working Committee meeting chaired by its Chairman, Shri Harsh Dev Singh to condole the death of Shri Janak Raj ji.
