Prof.Bhim Singh sends this message to all on the eve of New Year-2015

Happy New Year?

Another year is lost, dawn full of fog’

Destination eloped with shadow of time

Every co-walker asking for the account

of the deeds of the  year  lost.

Account nil, of all those years, I celebrated

With the known and unknown,

From skirts of India to Hanging Gardens of Babylon,

Besieged City of Jerusalem, Egyptian Pyramids,

Crying souls in Hiroshima, first to taste the lightening

Fall of the US Atom Bomb, killing half a million

The US great champion of democracy.

This year too, nothing on record

except, failures and defeats for me, while

killings, shootings  bombs, death & destruction

Every where, innocent children in Schools,

Women drowning in half foot deep waters,

Farmers committing suicides in their farms

Now, again, join you all my friends and critics

To celebrate this day because it

Send me the memory of the Great time

Of the great man, Jesus Christ,

They call Him the Son of God.

I know I have lost one more year

To be taken out of my life, shortening it

By another years only reminding me

That I have year to build bridge of life

With the Ultimate which is still unknown

A mystery, a heave, or hell or God as they call

Faced crucifixion of the tyrants

for the sake of universal Truth!

NJAC signed by the President a disaster to judicial domain, threat to democracy in India

“124th amendment to the Constitution granting constitutional status to NJAC (National Judicial Appointment Commission) has been signed by the President of India which in the universal opinion of the democrats will destroy independence of the judiciary. Appointment of Chief Justice of the Supreme Court and the High Courts shall henceforth be at the mercy of a political commission comprising of two eminent persons (may they be dancers, businessmen, politicians or the like), the sitting Law Minister and three judges with veto power to the Union Law Minister, of course, acting as the rubber stamp of the Prime Minister.

The High Court judges shall need approval of the Governors and the Chief Ministers in their respective states. A perfect manipulation and control of the politicians working under the dictates of money and muscle power.” This was the immediate reaction of a senior advocate, Prof.Bhim Singh, practicing in the Apex Court of India.

Prof.Bhim Singh said that this amendment to the NJAC was cleared in the Parliament without any discussion. No political party could dare move a motion for referring such a sensitive matter to a select committee in the interest of survival of the judiciary as one of the pillars of democracy. By this amendment the authority of Supreme Court has been cut to the size. This law is seriously flawed and contrary to cardinal principles of Constitutional Law that upholds the independence of the judiciary. Introduction of Articles 124A, 124B & 124C are fatal to the democratic norms and independent working of the highest judiciary in the country. This is also against the spirit of the recommendations of Venkatachaliah Committee which had proposed five-member committee.

Prof.Bhim Singh also held a meeting of State Legal Aid Committee which is headed by him and resolved that the NJAC shall be challenged before the Supreme Court as it lacks transparency, promotes corruption, favourtism and political interest in the appointment of judges. He also appealed to the political parties who still fight against political corruption, for the integrity of the nation and for independence of judiciary in the country.
