“May I bring it to your kind notice that Code of Conduct has become a casualty in J&K by both the State government as well as some political parties. This morning a statement was published widely which said, “No Hindu (religion) can become Chief Minister of J&K.” The Constitution of J&K and the Peoples Representation Act of J&K has a clear mandate that many persons qualified to be a legislator in the state is competent to hold any ministerial job and is qualified to be a Chief Minister of the State irrespective of his religion, region, caste or otherwise.
This statement has been made by a PDP leader on behalf of the Peoples Democratic Party, J&K which is contesting poll in J&K. This statement has been made to help, promote and further communalize election campaign of BJP. Since Prime Minister Modi is campaigning for BJP with his slogan to make a Hindu as Chief Minister of J&K. Present trends in J&K show that Mr. Modi’s political graph is falling down and he needed some prominent voice from Kashmir to revive his agenda. This statement has been made by the PDP to win favour of Prime Minister Modi and creates further communal polarization in J&K with an intention to create favour for the PDP in the Valley and for BJP in Jammu Pradesh.
This statement of the PDP leader is gross violation of the Code of Conduct. Needs urgent and immediate action. PDP has to be disqualified as recognized political party in the state.”
