“Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi shall be celebrating Diwali by lighting Diwali lamps in Srinagar this year in ghost city while over two dozen dead bodies of the flood victims in Panchari and Nowshera (Jammu Pradesh) are still remained buried under debris for want of a couple of JCB machines. The government counsel of J&K had made a commitment before the Supreme Court of India (while hearing writ petition of JKNPP on 10th October, 2014) that the government shall provide JCB machines to dig out 14 dead bodies from the debris in Laam village of Nowshera (Rajouri) and nearly 18 dead bodies from the debris who were buried alive in Sadal village, Panchari in Udhampur district. Nothing has moved till this day. Prime Minister Modi should also lighten the Diwali lamps on the rocks where dead bodies of human being could not be dug out. A kind of governance people have in J&K.” This was the statement issued by Prof.Bhim Singh while commenting on Modi’s visit to Srinagar to celebrate Diwali on the ruins of the houses left by the flood devastation that rocked J&K from September 2 to 9, 2014.
