He won the bye-election to the Lok Sabha from Udhampur Parliamentary Constituency in 1988 yet the Election Commission declared Congress candidate as victor. J&K High Court quashed the order of the Returning Officer but he could not give any relief to Prof.Bhim Singh because the Lok Sabha in question was dissolved before the day of judgment.

Addressing a press conference in Srinagar (Kashmir) today, Prof. Bhim Singh, Chief Patron of National Panthers Party & Member of National Integration Council has called on the Hurriyat Conference leaders to join poll battle so that the most neglected, suppressed and oppressed people of J&K could be represented genuinely in the Parliament. The NPP Supremo also appealed the angry youth of Kashmir the support the Panthers Party candidates in the Lok Sabha election because it is only Panthers Party which represents the aspirations of the youth in particular which is evident from the fact that Panthers Party alone has been fighting from the streets to the legislature and Legislature to the Supreme Court for the justice and equity to the suffering people of J&K. Prof.Bhim Singh described Panthers Party as a change (vikalp) and the people wants change so that they can also share the fruits of democracy.

The NPP leader told the media persons that is Panthers Party which has been fighting for the youth detained illegally in jails and the new recruits who are being paid only half of the salary. He said that Panthers Party has moved the Supreme Court against the half salary ordinance. The case shall be heard in Supreme Court on 31st March, 2014. He said that is the only Panthers Party which has been fighting against the brutal killing and autocratic detention of the youth which is evident from the case of Faizan, a 12 years old student in Srinagar. He said that Kashmir should be grateful to Faizan because of his case that Govt. of J&K had to accept Supreme Court decision for the implementation of Juvenile Act. Prof.Bhim Singh demanded release of all the juveniles (minors) from the judicial custody as the Govt. has to constitute Juvenile Boards, Juvenile Homes as directed in Faizan’s case. He said the Supreme Court had issued direction that a case for the compensation of illegal arrest of Faizan should be filed in Srinagar Court for appropriate compensation.

This was a communal divide of the state by the Congress and NC. He said Panthers Party is bound to open its account in the Indian Parliament this election. In a reply to a question the Panthers Party Supremo maintained that neither Rahul Gandhi nor Narendra Modi shall be Prime Minister of India as the great people of India shall not accept any extremist.           The prominent M/s. Farooq Ahmed Dar, Provincial President, Syed Mohd. Rafiq Shah, MLC, Masood Indrabi, Vice President, Maqbool Malik, State Secretary were also sitting in the press conference.

Sub: Weather conditions are not allowing election campaign in J&K

Sir,
You must have noticed that entire J&K is under the spell of cold wave, rain and thunder. All routes and roads in Udhampur Parliamentary Constituency have been blocked and the election campaign has been abandoned by all political parties and contesting candidates.
1.    The entire communication work has collapsed in Kathua District and the road to three Assembly constituencies have been blocked due to rain mainly Billawar, Basohli and Bani.
2.    The highway from Kathua to Udhampur leading to Ramban and Banihal has been closed due to bad weather, glaciers and heavy land slides.
3.    That there is no connectivity between Udhampur and Banihal, between Banihal and Ramban, between Batote and Doda. No political party or candidate can play miracle in such a weather to campaign.
4.    That almost one week has gone since the announcement of the election schedule on 5th March and the election campaign could not be launched due to worsening weather condition.
5.    It shall be in the interest of free and fair polls that the election schedule for Udhampur parliamentary constituency is readjusted. This constituency may be brought on election schedule along with Ladakh and Baramullah on May 7, 2014.
Thanking you,
