Prof. Bhim Singh nominated as Executive Member of AMU Old Boys’ Association

Prof. Bhim Singh has been nominated as Executive Member by the President of Aligarh Muslim University Old Boys’ Association, Delhi, Md. Irshad Ahmad keeping in view highly credible services of Prof. Bhim Singh towards the welfare of the students’ community of AMU since 1963 when he joined the AMU as a law student. Prof. Bhim Singh was imprisoned with nearly 150 students of AMU while agitating for the preservation of the minority character of AMU in 1966. He served the university as a Secretary and represented AMU in the Xth Youth Festival at Talkatora, Delhi which was inaugurated by Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru. Hundreds of student leaders of AMU congratulated Prof. Bhim Singh and thanked Md. Irshad Ahmad for having recognized the unique services of Prof. Bhim Singh for the cause of AMU. The letter of appointment was presented by the President AMU Old Boys’ Association (AMUOBA) last evening to Prof. Bhim Singh at NPP Headquarters, New Delhi.

In the meanwhile, the AMUOBA has constituted a Review Committee to study the situation in Muzaffarnagar which has shaken the faith of the people in the administration. The AMUOBA has constituted the Legal Cell headed by Prof. Bhim Singh which will study the facts that led to the unfortunate situation in Muzaffarnagar. The team will also visit Muzaffarnagar and conduct an onground assessment of the current situation. The team will comprise of Choudhary Nehal Singh, Mudassir Hayat (General Secretary-AMUOBA), Badshah Alam and others.

Prof. Bhim Singh thanked the AMUOBA for showing their love and affection on behalf of thousands of AMU students whose love, he said, he has been enjoying for nearly 50 years. Prof. Bhim Singh with his team shall be visiting Muzaffarnagar.
