May SC take stampede killings on board, suo moto

“A great tragedy, causing deaths of over 100 devotees visiting Ratnagarh Temple in Datia District, Madhya Pradesh in stampede was only for the reason that the local management/administration has failed to make appropriate for the movement of the devotees. Such tragic incidents have occurred in the past also when innocent people rather pilgrims/devotees lost their lives only for the reasons that the administration had failed to make appropriate arrangements to discipline/guide the movement of the pilgrims. Thousands of pilgrims visit Mata Vaishno Devi cave everyday and their movements are properly taken care of. The entire nation joins mourning of these devotees which include men, women and children in Madhya Pradesh.” These were the observations made by Prof. Bhim Singh, Chief Patron of National Panthers Party and Member of National Integration Council.
He said that Disaster Management Committee’s role is not meant to act after the disaster has taken place, its role should have been to work out wages and means by involving the local administration to avoid such disaster which could have been avoided had the administration/management acted with care and caution.
The Panthers Party Supremo, who is also Sr. Executive Member of the Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) hoped that the Supreme Court will take this matter on its board, suo moto. Even if the Supreme Court does not take up the matter, he hoped that Supreme Court Bar Association may take this urgent issue as PIL.
