Bhim Singh throws challenge to BJP, NC & Congress leaders for open debate on Article 370

Prof. Bhim Singh, Chief Patron of National Panthers Party and Member of National Integration Council has thrown challenge to the leaders of BJP, NC and Congress to join him in an open debate from the same platform on the relevance of Article 370 in 2013. He pointed out that BJP has been exploiting the emotions of the electorates in the name of Article 370 and Ram Mandir with the sole objective to raise their vote bank. On the other hand Congress and NC have been making the full use of BJP’s provoking slogans to add votes to their kitty. This hide and seek game is being played by both sides to create communal hatred only for the sake of electoral gains.
Prof. Bhim Singh asked BJP leaders why did they forget about Article 370 when they were in power for six years. He reminded that he had taken up the issue with the then Prime Minister, Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee seeking his intervention for introducing amendment in the temporary provisions of Article 370. On the other hand Mr. Omar Abdullah, the grandson of Sheikh Mohd. Abdullah, arch rival of BJP who said the other day in the presence of Prime Minister of India, Dr. Manmohan Singh in Banihal that “Article 370 shall be abrogated on his dead body.” NPP Supremo reminded Mr. Omar Abdullah what led him to sit in the lap of BJP when Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee was the Prime Minister of India. Did he know that BJP always stood for abrogation of Article 370. It shows, the NPP leaders said, that Mr. Omar Abdullah has understood that the Kashmiries do not accept his leadership and that’s why he started talking in the terms of Jamat-e-Islami.
Prof. Bhim Singh reminded the intellectuals and the historians that Article 370 was inserted in the Constitution of India in 1950 when Maharaja Hari Singh was still the king of J&K with a limited sovereign power vis-à-vis the internal affairs. He had surrendered voluntarily defence, foreign affairs and communications to the Union of India. Article 370 was brought only to scuttle his power by empowering President of India as the viceroy. In November, 1952 the Constituent Assembly of J&K abrogated monarchy in J&K. With the abrogation of monarchy, Article 370 lost its relevance and constitutional mandate. And rightly so because it was a temporary measure only to rein in the Maharaja of J&K. A temporary provision cannot last for more than half of a century. This is discriminatory, unacceptable in democracy and seedling authoritarianism. Prof. Bhim Singh said that the formula offered by the J&K National Panthers Party for Reorganization of the State through the amendment in Article 370 is the only way out to seek a permanent resolution of the situation prevailing in the State since 1947. He has been strongly pleading for amendment in Article 370. This amendment has to be brought in to empower Parliament to legislate in respect of J&K so that the matter within the Central List are brought under the legislative umbrella of the Parliament. The Concurrent List can be looked after by the State Legislature. The chapter on the fundamental rights in the Indian Constitution shall have to be extended to the people of J&K so that they may also share the fruits of democracy like their brethren in the other parts in the country.
Prof. Bhim Singh invited any leader of the BJP, NC or the Congress to join in the debate on the subject anywhere in the country from Kanyakumari to Kashmir. He stressed that amendment in Article 370 is essential to extend the fruits of democracy to J&K.

Bhim Singh’s tributes to Narasimha Rao on his 92nd Birth Anniversary

Prof. Bhim Singh, Chief Patron of National Panthers Party and Member of National Integration Council while addressing Panthers Party activists in New Delhi paid highest tributes to 9th Prime Minister of India, Shri P.V. Narasimha Rao who took over as Congress Prime Minister at a time when the entire country was passing through a grave economic and political crises. He described Shri Narasimha Rao as a selfless politician, renowned freedom fighter and farsighted statesman in the Congress Party who steered India through the economic tempest with the power of his mind and commitment. His farsightedness could be appreciated from the fact that he picked up a non-political person, Dr. Manmohan Singh, and gave him ministerial work to restore the economic order which had literally collapsed when Mr. V.P. Singh opted out of PM’s Office.
It was Narasimha Rao who managed to keep the volcanoes of militancy under control through his diplomacy and international relations. Prof. Bhim Singh recalled that Shri Narasimha Rao had ignored the critics within the party and the government in assigning the work to me for improving public relations with the international community from Palestine to the United Nations. It was because of Shri Narasimha Rao that I could lead a strong team to Vienna, Austria to attend 15-day International Human Rights Conference where my team created a history by making the world to understand that the Kashmiries were neither against India nor against the Indian Army. The entire terrorism in the state was created by foreign powers who intended to sabotage unity and peace. It was because of Narasimha Rao’s blessing that I succeeded in creating a strong impact on the prominent OIC members in the Casablanca (Morocco) Conference in 1993. It was because of Narasimha Rao that his government supported my writ petition in the Supreme Court seeking election to the State Assembly when Election Commission of India did not want to hold Assembly election. It was Narasimha Rao who brushed aside the conspiracy of a group of Indian politicians in connivance with the National Conference leaders.
Even former President, Mr. APJ Abdul Kalam called him “patriotic statesman who believed that the nation is bigger than the political philosophy”. It was he who had planned to upgrade India’s nuclear power which is later experimented by Prime Minister, Mr. Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
Prof. Bhim Singh revealed that it was Shri Narasimha Rao, the then General Secretary-AICC in 1976 who saved Youth Congress from disaster when pro-Sanjay Gandhi group attempted to throw out IYC President Mr.P.R. Dasmunsi and installed Sanjay Gandhi in his place. It was only Bhim Singh and his couple of friends who opposed Sanjay Gandhi’s coup and Shri Narasimha Rao upheld Bhim Singh’s proposition to keep status quo. Again in 1984 after the brutal assassination of Smt. Indira Gandhi, it was Narasimha Rao as Union Home Minister who saved several Sikh families from the wrath of the attackers. Prof. Bhim Singh revealed that he had called Shri Narasimha Rao after midnight seeking his urgent intervention to save Shri Harcharan Singh Josh and his relatives who were besieged by the hooligans a day following the assassination of Smt. Indira Gandhi. It was Mr. Narasimha Rao’s intervention after midnight that hundreds of Sikh families gathered at the house of Shri H.S. Josh were rescued. This was greatness of Mr. Narasimha Rao as a Congress leader, as a Home Minister and then the Prime Minister of India.
Prof. Bhim Singh recollected saying that Mr. Narasimha Rao had a great vision and he did not allow the sycophants and the mercenaries to stand between the PM and his national commitment. It was during his premiership, that Prof. Bhim Singh got an ample opportunity to represent India in various international foras in connection with the situation in J&K to expose terrorism and the enemies of peace. The Panthers Party paid rich tributes to Shri Narasimha Rao on the occasion.

Panthers hold protest in front of Kashmir House, Memorandum to Governor for Omar’s dismissal

Hundreds of Panthers held a massive demonstration on the locked Prithviraj Road in front of Kashmir House where Omar Abdullah was hiding inside demanding immediate dismissal of Omar Abdullah and his trial for sedition. The protest was led by NPP Supremo, Prof. Bhim Singh and joined by several senior leaders of Delhi Pradesh National Panthers Party including M/s. B.S. Sajan, Rajiv Jolly Khosla, Sanjay Kumar, Nishant Sambyal, Rahul Vig, Jitesh Kumar, Irfan Hussain, Rajesh Kumar, Ajit Singh, Raju Chauhan, Dasmesh Gupta, Om Kishan, S.S. Sharma, Ms. Neha Nanda, J.P. Chawla, Shiv Prasad Vishwakarma, Afzal Khan, Surjit Singh Guleria and others.
Addressing the rally on the road blocked by the police from both sides, Prof. Bhim Singh demanded immediate dismissal of Omar Abdullah in the interest of national security and the safety of the people of J&K. He accused Omar Abdullah for publicly insulting and disgracing the army by demanding their immediate removal. This act of Omar Abdullah, he said, has encouraged the terrorists imported by him from Pakistan via Nepal to attack the army. This is mutiny committed by the Chief Minister against the State. The Panthers condemned the killings of the serving policemen on the road and that of the army soldiers on the highway on the eve of PM’s visit to Kashmir. He urged the Governor to intervene u/s. 92 of the Constitution of J&K which has vested power in the Governor to dismiss the government if it is not functioning in accordance with the Constitution.
The Additional Commissioner in the Kashmir House personally collected memorandum of the Panthers Party from Delhi Pradesh Panthers Party leaders addressed to Shri N.N. Vohra, the Governor of J&K seeking dismissal of Omar Abdullah without delay. The memorandum is reproduced below:-
“We the activists of Delhi Pradesh National Panthers Party would like to submit the following memorandum to your honour for your intervention under section 92 of J&K Constitution as the Omar Abdullah government has become security risk thus causing threat to the national integration.
1.       It was the Omar Abdullah, the Chief Minister of J&K who denounced State Accession with the
Union of India on the floor of the Assembly last year
2.      It was Omar Abdullah, as Chief Minister, Incharge Home responsible for the brutal killings of 120 youth and students to 2010. A Commission of enquiry should be constituted.
3.       It was Omar Abdullah, Chief Minister of J&K, who is directly responsible for the death of Hazi Yusuf in 2011. The case is pending in Supreme Court. Even FIR has not been filed because of the intervention of the Chief Minister.
4.         It is the Chief Minister and his government abetted the illegal entry of Pakistani trained terrorists to enter India via Nepal. The Chief Minister admitted in the Assembly that 243 militants holding Pakistani passports had entered India via Nepal without any valid documents. It is Chief Minister, who has committed offence u/s.120, 121, 122 &123 threatening the security of the state by allowing Pakistani nationals to enter Jammu and Kashmir without valid documents.
5.         Two policemen were brutally killed in the heart of Srinagar City in the broad day light. There was no arrest. This shows connivance of Omar Abdullah’s government with the terrorists.
6.    A few days back, on the eve of Prime Minister’s visit to Kashmir, eight army soldiers were martyred by the terrorists on the highway, on the out skirts of Srinagar City by the terrorists. No arrest, no clue about the terrorists. It was he started tirade against the Indian army demanding their removal from the state thus provoking and encouraging the terrorists to attack the army. He has committed in grave offence against the country. Surely these terrorists are among those who were smuggled into J&K by Omar Abdullah from Pakistan. This amounted to aggression against India.
7.    Omar Abdullah and his government is involved in corruption and sabotage of all the Central Schemes meant for the development of the state.
8.         It is Omar Abdullah government which has brutalized human rights, detained senior Kashmiri angry leader in their homes without any cause.
9.         The continuation of Omar Abdullah government shall prove disaster to the national interest and democracy in the state
We urge upon your honour to dismiss Omar Abdullah in the same spirit and for the same cause which Pt. Jawahar Lal Nehru, the then Prime Minister of India, applied to Sheikh Abdullah in the greater national interest. Omar Abdullah has become security risk and he must go. Your timely action shall save Kashmir, save India. Dismiss Omar Abdullah as nation is more important than any individual.”

NC’s ‘autonomy’ demand, invoking secession, inspiring terrorism in Kashmir

Prof. Bhim Singh, Chief Patron, National Panthers Party slapped a hard-heating rejoinder to National Conference leaders including Dr. Farooq Abdullah and his son Omar Abdullah asking them to spell out their autonomy demand so that the Kashmiries also understand what NC has been asking for. He pointed out;
1.    Indian Constitution is not applicable to the State of J&K though it is integral part of the Union. The Maharaja of J&K had acceded to the Union in 1947 which has been accepted by the United Nations too.
2.    The Parliament of India cannot legislate in respect of any piece of legislation in J&K which is evident from the provisions of Article 370.
3.    J&K has a separate Constitution sans fundamental rights and freedoms. There is no freedom of speech, expression or to practice any religion in the state.
4.    The preamble of J&K Constitution is blank on the words, ‘Secularism’, ‘socialism’ and ‘human dignity’.
5.    J&K has High Court of J&K which was established by Maharaja Hari Singh in 1928. It is not at par with the High Courts in other states.
6.    J&K has no Bar Council as Bar Councils in all states are elected from among the lawyers. J&K is the only state where Bar Council is headed by the Chief Justice of J&K with the selected High Court judges as its members. The Registrar of the High Court is the Secretary of the Bar Council. What a shame on the shame democracy.
Prof. Bhim Singh who is also Sr. Executive Member of the Supreme Court Bar Association and Executive Chairman (Hony.) of the State Legal Aid Committee, J&K asked Dr. Farooq Abdullah and his son to spell out his autonomy and answer what more autonomy NC has been asking for. It is clear that NC has been asking for separate Islamic Republic of Greater Kashmir, a theory which was propounded by Jewish Justice Owen Dixon, head of the UN Commission in J&K in 1951. Nehru had rejected this proposition which now has been camouflaged by National Conference under the umbrella of autonomy with the supporting crutches of the non-existent 1952 Agreement.
Prof. Bhim Singh has demanded the same action against Omar Abdullah and his father that Jawaharlal Nehru took against Sheikh Abdullah in 1953. Dismissal of father and son is the only way out for the security of the state and welfare of the Kashmiries.

NPP condemned attack on Army in Srinagar Demands immediate dismissal of NC-Congress Govt.

Prof. Bhim Singh, Supremo of J&K National Panthers Party and Member of  National Integration Council presently in J&K has strongly condemned the attack on the Indian Army soldiers on the National Highway in the broad day light resulting in martyrdom of several soldiers of the Indian Army today, on the eve of Prime Minister’s visit to Kashmir. NPP Supremo had warned the Govt. of India two days back when the terrorists killed two police jawans in the heart of Srinagar City demanding immediate dismissal of Omar Abdullah.
Prof. Bhim Singh said that Congress Party in Delhi to decide whether it prefers National Conference and Omar Abdullah to the national interest. In 1953 Nehru got Sheikh Abdullah dismissed, arrested and jailed when Nehru found that Sheikh Abdullah had become security risk. Today, Omar Abdullah has become security risk who has been playing the game of ISI in Kashmir by attacking the army and disowning even Accession.
Prof. Bhim Singh said that National Conference government has conspired to create a hell in Kashmir so that the Prime Minister and the Mrs. Sonia Gandhi fail to enter Kashmir.
Prof. Bhim Singh demanded immediate dismissal of Omar Government, removal of Dr. Farooq Abdullah from the Union government and stop infiltration of Pakistani agents to India via Nepal.
Prof. Bhim Singh declared that Panthers Party shall hold a dharna at Jantar Mantar, New Delhi on 27th June, 2013 demanding Governor Rule in J&K in the greater national interest.
