NPSU celebrates Foundation Day, Pledge to fight corruption, criminalization

Hundreds of NPSU activists celebrated its 30th Foundation Anniversary at the Auditorium of the Press Club of Jammu today which was presided by NPSU State President, Mr. Partap Singh Jamwal assisted by its Provincial President, Mr. Virender Singh Thakur. 84 Students activists were presented trophies (Student Pride Award) by Prof. Bhim Singh (Founder & Chief Patron-NPP) and Shri Harsh Dev Singh ,Chairman Advisory Board-NPSU.Those who were honoured included the State & Provincial Presidents also.
The NPSU State President Mr. Partap Singh Jamwal, Provincial President Mr. Virender Singh Thakur, its General Secretary Zeshan Qazmi and Secretary Mohd. Shakeel Xaka and other student leaders pledged that every NPSU volunteer makes a commitment that, “I shall speak truth fearlessly and boldly”, that, “I shall extend my support to every needy person even he is my enemy”. They also expressed gratitude to the NPP leadership for their unique support to the student movement in J&K against injustice.
Mr. Harsh Dev Singh reminded the students of the unparalleled sacrificies of Prof. Bhim Singh as a student leader and said that Bhim Singh is a symbol of revolution, commitment to the public cause and change that is why the intellectuals all over the world identified him with Che Guevara of Latin Amercia and Yasir Arafat of Palestine. Bhim Singh urges PM on the eve of BCI Celebrations to extend Advocates Act in J&K.

Prof. Bhim Singh, Sr. Executive Member of the Supreme Court Bar Association today made a moving appeal to the Prime Minister of India for his urgent intervention to end 40 years old discrimination with the lawyers’ fraternity of J&K. In his strongly worded letter addressed to Dr. Manmohan Singh, Prof. Bhim Singh demanded to end 40 years’ old discrimination with the lawyers’ fraternity in J&K. He said, “Let the so-called Bar Council of J&K be derecognized without any delay. The steps must be taken to hold elections in accordance with the Advocates Act (as amended) for the Bar Council of J&K.” [Read more…]

SC directs J&K Govt. to produce jail records of 1965 POK detenus

Division Bench of the Supreme Court of India comprising JJ Mr. Mr. R.M. Lodha, Mr. J. Chelameswar & Mr. Madan B. Lokur today directed the counsel of J&K State to produce the original record of the jail in connection with the imprisonment and detention of the prisoners of war allegedly arrested in 1965 in Poonch Sector. A petition has been filed by State Legal Aid Committee on the request of the relatives of POK prisoners alleging that they were arrested by the Govt. of J&K in 1965 and since then they have remained in illegal detention in Jammu Central Jail. Bhim pleads for restoration of minority character to AMU

Addressing a special conference of AMU Students held at the Constitution Club, New Delhi, Prof. Bhim Singh an old boy of the Aligarh Muslim University urged Dr. Manmohan Singh, the Prime Minister of India for his urgent intervention for the restoration of minority character of AMU. He said that AMU symbolizes secular character of India and has contributed a lot towards building a secular democratic face of India. He described the 1981 decision to abrogate the minority character of the AMU and demanded that the blunder should be rectified. He hoped that Parliament shall take this initiative during the budget session this year to enact a fresh law for the restoration of the minority character of the university. [Read more…]

The Young Panthers one day conclave concluded late last evening held under the chairmanship of Syed Mohd. Rafiq Shah, MLC, President, Young Panthers in Jammu.
